The subconscious mind says, “I am good enough, I am worthy, and I am as smart as anyone else in the room. I will speak up, and I will be clear and ask for what I want for my career and what I need to balance work & life. We whisper to the amygdala, “I am fearless.”
I am Dina Readinger, a team transformation, leadership coach, and the amygdala whisperer. I coach executive women who suffer from the preverbal fear of “I must not be good enough” and are living in a world of overpromised promotions and underserving managers.
I fought this self-deprecating fear my entire life. The powerful fear that caused my “broken thinking” became evident in 1993, I divorced my husband of ten years, with two small children, 2 and 3 years old. We were homeless, and I had $25 in my pocket. My mind could only think of the bad things that were about to happen. Literally praying at the foot of the cross, I asked God, “Please, take me home, it’s too painful here on earth to stay!” Jesus clearly shared with me, “Not now, you have work to do.”
It took me twenty-five years, when the AHA moment hit me. I became certified team business coach in 2015 and went back to school for my EMBA, to help other women develop new thinking centered around leveraging their confidence.
Women are confident in their skills, but they are not confident in leveraging and communicating their skills. Women will withhold ideas due to the internal fears and the biological response to stress, the hyperreactive amygdala, and their avoidance of backlash.
